THE ACTORS’ WORKSHOP Part 4 – Expression On Stage

THE ACTORS’ WORKSHOP

Expression on stage – vocal and physical

March 6th, 2013 7.30 – 9.30

Oakes Mill

Using the vehicle of John Osborne’s play ‘Look back in Anger’ from 1956, one of our stalwart members, Ruth Adams, will guide us through discovery of expression on stage, both vocal and physical and an exploration of the emotional drive and relationships of the characters.

We will set the drama in its historical context and as part of the British theatre cultural movement of ‘kitchen sink realism’ with an opportunity to consider its relevance today. The press of the day reported ‘The audience was jolted as if they’d been sitting for two hours in an electric chair.’

We can’t promise quite the same experience at Oakes, but come to participate, learn (knowledge and skills) and have some fun!
