We are delighted to announce that we will be holding three promenade performances of scenes from Shakespeare in Greenhead Park in July 2016. The dates are to be finalised but are provisionally set for 7, 8 and 9 July. Watch this space for updates!
Shakespeare in the Park will comprise a scene or section from five of Shakespeare’s plays – Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, Henry V, and Macbeth. Each will take place at a different location within the park and will last for 20-30 minutes. There will be an interval, and along the way there will be all sorts of other entertainment, including music, singing, and much more!
We are now looking for directors for this exciting new adventure for the Huddersfield Thespians, which will commemorate 400 years since Shakespeare’s death. Directors will be responsible for all aspects of their scenes, working with our wardrobe, casting, staging, lighting and sound teams. We are also looking for expressions of interest from actors for the following parts;
Romeo & Juliet: Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Capulet, Nurse, Benvolio and Mercutio.
Midsummer Night’s Dream: Quince, Bottom, Snout, Starveling, Flute, Snug, Titania, Oberon, Puck, Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Moth, Mustardseed (these last four parts are likely to be played by children.)
Macbeth: Witch one, witch two, witch three, Hecate, and Macbeth.
Henry V: Henry.
Twelfth Night: Malvolio, Olivia, Toby Belch, Andrew Aguecheek, Maria.
